Hi! I’m Christie!
I am the creator of pottery for Cerwinka Ceramics. I work out of a small studio located in the basement of my house. Being an optometrist inspires a lot of my pieces. The pieces I make are unique and bring me joy. I hope they will brighten your day too!
I started my clay journey when my twin boys were in a half-day pre-school program. I signed up for a morning class while the boys were in school. This meant that I had 2.5 hours to watch the instructor give demos, throw a little bit, and clean up before I had to pick them up. My ceramics journey took a loooooong time to get to this point. I needed some time to be creative and to leave the house for something besides work. This class and the ceramics center was my happy place. I enjoyed all the people I met there over the years. Some days, I would show up to class and just chat with everyone without making anything. As the boys got older, I could to spend more time there and get more practice. I finally bought a wheel and set it up in our unfinished basement where the indoor bounce house used to live. A few years later I bought my first kiln. During the pandemic, I set up video conferencing to be able to throw with others virtually. It was my way to stay connected. I still do this every week. My hope is that you will find something here you like and to inspire you to go out and find what makes you happy.
